Individual Rights
An important precursor to NMSC’s Abuse Prevention course, this course teaches and informs about the rights of individuals in services, including:
- Knowing, understanding and supporting the rights of individuals
- Promoting person-centered thinking and advocacy regarding these rights
- Understanding the principles of a professional relationship
- Recognizing the intricacies of the position of trust
- When and how to employ the principle of dignity of risk
- Supporting change when choices or behaviors jeopardize health, safety and/or access to the community
- Most effective when taken with NMSC’s “Abuse Prevention” course
